- 0:00 Good day. I'm Dr. Duncan Houston and this is my fake living room.
- 0:12 All right. So, what we've got here is the Explorer dog harness. I have this in multiple colors. We have gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, purple, and rainbow. So, I actually have it in, you know, something that's made with all the different colors put together and made a rainbow harness.
- 0:31 Why is this harness good? Well, it's called the Explorer No-Pull Harness. The reason why it's a no-pull harness is that it has this D-ring at the front, so, the front of the chest. If your dog pulls ahead, it's going to get turned to whichever way that your lead is hanging because if they pull on it, they're going to get spun around, so they can't actually pull ahead. If you put it back here, then obviously they can pull and still keep pulling like that and they won't get turned. I guess if you have this on and the dog's pulling backwards that way, it kind of doesn't make as much sense for the no-pull. But usually dogs pull to get ahead and get away from you, which is why I have this D-ring on here to try and turn them around no matter which way that they're going. That's why it's called the Explorer No...
- 1:10 What else? I made a big handle on the top. This one, it's got like, you know, all of these have a padded handle on top. They've got a neoprene lining and it's all been double stitched. So you got a nice handle here, which is good for a traffic handle, or if you, you know, say if your dog's swimming, you can pull them out. This isn't the waterproof version. This one's water-resistant material, but it will soak up water if it sits in water. But if water splashes on it, then generally it's okay. You've got a handle here. Great to be able to grab them, stay in control, especially if, you know, things do get out of control. You've got to pull your dog off something, maybe another dog, or maybe, you know, out of the bushes or something. You've got a nice big handle to grab here and pull them back.
- 1:52 The next thing is these D-rings are actually like an alloy material that's super lightweight, but it's also super strong. They're in like a matte gunmetal color. So, I think that looks quite nice and classy, and it matches the gray along the outside and the gray on the inner material of the harnesses.
- 2:04 The next thing is that you do have an ID tag little ring in here underneath the handle. So, if you do buy an Ask A Vet ID tag, you know, or your own ID tag, you can just clip it in here. Much better to have a nice, good-looking Ask A Vet ID tag sitting under here on the handle of the harness here. You do also have a loop of fabric here that has a little light logo on it. This is where you can connect an LED light. So if you have, you know, just—there's heaps of them—like any of those dangling LED lights, I think they're quite good. You just loop it onto this bit of fabric here and it won't affect the handle. You know, if you grab that quickly or whatever, it's not going to destroy it because it's on something else. So that's why that is there.
- 2:43 Don't attach lights to these D-rings if you've got your leash or your lead attached to them because it'll just break the loop. And don't put your ID tags on these thick D-rings. The reason why I don't do that is because, again, leads and leashes will snap the rings and then you lose your ID tag.
- 3:00 All of this webbing is super strong. I work with the manufacturer. I've worked with them for years now to make these harnesses, so the webbing and stitching is super, super nice. It's really strong. I only have these harnesses in small, medium, and large at the moment. I don't have other sizes because I couldn't afford it and I wanted to have a big color range. I like colors. So, at the moment, I'm only kind of covering between, you know, dogs roughly about 10 kilos is the smallest up to about 35 kilos.
- 3:31 So, the other thing is on the chest at the bottom, you do have these two little loops here with elastic. So, this is more for comfort for your dog, so there is a little bit of give when you're putting the strap on. So around the chest, if you really, really do want to make it super tight if your dog runs away—don't make it too tight because obviously then they'll struggle to breathe—but it does have a little bit of give on here. So the straps do also, you know, it doesn't like shake around as they run. It mainly just will stay nicely snug on their chest without kind of jumping around.
- 4:00 I should also say here you've got a little bit of webbing fabric so that if you don't want this D-ring on the front kind of dangling around, you can tuck it into this fabric if you want to. That's pretty much what that's for. You can also attach other things on the front if you need to, but most of the time you don't need to. And then you've got like a cushioned, yeah, cushioned, breathable fabric on the inside.
- 4:26 So, yeah, pretty much that's the Explorer harness. Comes in lots of colors, comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large. My favorite is the rainbow. And you can get matching leashes and training pouches and all that stuff. You can get your whole dog to match or your whole pack of dogs to match.

How it works
Why the Explorer Harness works for dogs that pull

A front clip that changes the walk, not just the equipment
Clip the lead to the front D-ring on the chest plate.
- A surge turns them backWhen your dog surges, the pull comes from the side and their body turns back toward you.
- No pain, no throat pressureNo pain, no pressure on the throat, and a dog that learns quickly that pulling gets them nowhere.
- Back ring for loose-lead walksOnce loose-lead walking is reliable, move the clip to the back ring and enjoy it.
Escape-resistant without being a straitjacket
Four adjustment points at the neck and chest, plus elasticated chest straps that move with the ribcage.
- Two fingers flat, and it holdsSet every strap to two fingers flat and it holds on deep-chested dogs, nervous backers-out and slim whippets, while still letting the shoulders swing freely.
- Mesh padding for hot walksBreathable mesh padding sits against the skin, so it stays comfortable on long, hot walks.

A handle you will use more than you think
Kerbs. Car doors. Stairs. The dog that appears off-lead around a corner.
- A calm, even holdThe padded top handle gives you a calm, even hold without grabbing at the collar or the scruff.
- A lift without twisting a hipThe handle is also how a senior or post-surgery dog gets lifted without twisting a hip.
- Reflective trim and a tag ringAdd 3M reflective trim for the early walk and a built-in ring for the Smart ID Tag, and the whole walk is covered.

Three sizing rules
-
Measure the chest first: the widest point just behind the front legs. Then the neck, low down where a collar would sit. Weight is a guide only.
-
Between two sizes, go up. A harness at the tight end of its range rubs behind the elbows; at the loose end it slips.
-
Fit check: two fingers flat under every strap, and the front D-ring sitting on the breastbone, not the throat.

How to
How to fit a no-pull dog harness

Measure before you buy
Chest at the widest point behind the front legs, neck where a collar sits. Use the size guide above and go up if you are between sizes.

Loosen everything, then put it on
Open all four adjusters, slip the neck loop over the head with the chest plate at the front, then click the side buckles under the ribs.

Tighten to two fingers
Chest strap first, then the neck. Two fingers should slide flat under every strap, and the front D-ring should sit on the breastbone, not the throat.

Clip front for training, back for cruising
Use the front D-ring while you are working on pulling. Move to the back D-ring once loose-lead walking is reliable. A double-ended lead on both rings gives the most control with a reactive dog.

Check the fit monthly
Puppies grow, coats change with the season and webbing wears. Take the harness off at home and look for rubbing behind the elbows.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A no-pull harness reduces pulling by redirecting it. It does not train your dog on its own, so pair the front clip with reward-based loose-lead work. Never let a dog that pulls hard walk on a collar alone: repeated pressure on the throat can damage the windpipe and raises pressure inside the eyes. Take the harness off at home, check for rubbing behind the elbows, and retire it once the webbing frays or a buckle stops clicking.

Why I designed it
I have treated the dogs that slipped their harness. I designed this one so yours does not.
Two things bring walking gear into my emergency room. The first is the dog that backed out of a loose harness and ran onto a road. The second is the dog that spent years pulling into a collar: a sore, coughing throat, and in small breeds a windpipe that starts to collapse. The Explorer answers both.
- Escape-resistant fitFour adjustment points and elasticated chest straps give a fit that stays put on deep-chested dogs and slippery whippets.
- Front D-ringThe front D-ring takes the force off the neck and turns pulling into a turn.
- Padded top handleAnd the padded handle is the thing I reach for most: on kerbs, at the car, and on the table when I need a dog held still without a hand around the collar.
- Tested at homeBridie has two replaced hips, so a harness that lifts evenly is not a nice-to-have in my house. She and Kiko wear the Large.

This is our new favorite harness. As the title I put on this review says, it is "Well-Made, Beautiful, Strong & Lightweigtht". The colors are bright and it is eye-catching to say the least on top of being strong enough for a bully breed. My bull terrier wore it during a scent work trial this weekend for the first time to test it out. She proudly earned two new titles while wearing it.
August 2026 Really happy with this harness and leash set. The fit is secure but still comfortable for my dog, and it doesn’t restrict his movement at all. The material feels durable, and the handle/clip are sturdy. We’ve used it on daily walks and it’s held up really well. Bonus points for the bright color

Does a no-pull harness actually stop pulling?
It changes the physics. With the lead on the front D-ring, a surge forward turns your dog sideways and back toward you, so pulling stops paying off. Most owners feel the difference on the first walk. It is not a substitute for training: pair the front clip with rewards for a loose lead and the habit changes for good. Read the loose-lead walking guide for the method.
Which size should I buy?
Measure the chest at the widest point behind the front legs and the neck where a collar sits, then use the size guide. Small suits a chest of 43 to 56 cm, Medium 53 to 68 cm and Large 65 to 82 cm: the tape measure beats the scales. Between two sizes, go up.
Is a harness better than a collar for a dog that pulls?
Yes. A collar concentrates the pulling force on the windpipe and the blood vessels of the neck, and in small and flat-faced breeds it can worsen a collapsing trachea. A well-fitted harness spreads the load across the chest. Keep the collar for ID if you like, or clip the Smart ID Tag to the built-in ring.
Can my dog escape from it?
Four adjustment points and elasticated chest straps make it very hard to back out of, provided it is fitted properly: two fingers flat under every strap, no more. Dogs that panic and reverse out of harnesses are usually wearing one that is too loose at the chest. For a known escape artist, use a double-ended lead clipped to both the front and back rings.
Can a puppy wear it?
Yes, once your puppy reaches the Small band, a chest of 43 cm. Introduce it at home with treats before the first walk, and check the fit every two weeks while they grow.
Can my dog wear it all day?
No. Put it on for walks and take it off at home. A harness worn around the clock traps moisture and rubs, especially behind the elbows, and you lose the chance to check the skin underneath.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap, rinse, and air dry away from direct heat. The fabric is quick-drying, so it is usually ready for the next morning.
What if it arrives damaged or the size is wrong?
Email hello@woopf.com as soon as you notice, with your order number. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are fully covered and we pay the return shipping when the error is ours. If you ordered the wrong size, get in touch within 14 days with the harness unused and in its packaging and we will do our best to help.
