Vet designed
Designed by emergency vet Dr Duncan Houston. Tested at home on Bridie and Kiko.
How it works
The tracker carries its own 4G connection.
Most trackers are useless to the person who actually finds your dog.
Steps, distance, rest and sleep, logged every day against your dog's own baseline.
Fit guide
One device for dogs and cats from about 4 kg. Below that the device is too much collar for the animal, and a cat under 4 kg should wear the battery-free Smart ID Tag on a breakaway collar instead.
It mounts on your own flat collar with the two silicone back straps in the box: screen facing out, snug enough that it does not swing, loose enough for two fingers under the collar.
Cats must wear it on a breakaway collar. Any animal wearing a device should have the skin under it checked once a week and the device taken off for grooming and for X-rays.
How to
USB-C, cable in the box, to full before the first walk. The app will tell you when it needs charging from then on; most owners land on a charge every two to four weeks.
Download the Ask A Vet app, create your dog's profile with a photo, two phone numbers and any medical notes, then scan the QR code inside the box lid to pair the tracker.
Live GPS, the virtual fence and the health trends run on it. One tracker per plan; the Premium plan carries two and adds the vet chats. The Lost Pet ID on the screen is free.
Thread your flat collar through the two silicone back straps, screen facing out, sitting to one side of the throat. Two fingers under the collar, and it should not swing when they shake.
Set a safe zone around home before the first night, turn on escape alerts, and set the LED colour so you can find a black dog in a dark park. Then leave the tracker alone for a week so the activity baseline is your dog's normal, not the excitement of a new gadget.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, BVSc
A tracker tells you where your dog is. It does not stop them getting out, so fix the fence, the recall and the door routine as well. Activity, sleep and temperature data are context for a conversation with a vet, not a diagnosis, and a quiet dog with a normal step count can still be sick. Use the sound and vibration cues to mark and reward behaviour you want, never to startle or punish; if training goes backwards, stop using them. Cats wear it only on a breakaway collar. Take the device off for grooming, bathing with shampoo, and whenever a clinic asks, and check the skin under it weekly. Nothing on the collar replaces the microchip; keep both, and keep the chip registration current.

Why I designed it
No tag, or a tag with a number that stopped working two house moves ago, or a microchip registered to a breeder in another state. The dog is fine. The owner is driving around in the dark. I wanted one thing on the collar that ends that night early.

The GPS is great, it's given me so much peace of mind knowing I can pinpoint my dog if she tries to escape. It tells me when it needs charging, and it lasts so much longer than other trackers I've had in the past. Also loving the safe zone so I know if she leaves our yard.
Part of the Ask A Vet ecosystem
WOOPF™ is the dog product arm of Ask A Vet, Dr Duncan Houston's animal health platform. The tracker feeds live location, activity, sleep and alerts into your dog's profile, next to the medications you keep there. On the Premium plan, a certified vet chats with you twice a month.

FAQ
For the live GPS, yes. The device is paid for once; live location, the virtual fence, activity and sleep monitoring, worldwide coverage and a year of location history run on the Tracker Plan, billed monthly in the Ask A Vet app, one tracker per plan. The pet profile, the Lost Pet ID on the screen and the app itself are free. The Premium plan includes two tracker plans, unlimited AI vet chat and two certified vet chats a month; the Tracker Plan on its own does not include the vet chats.
It has its own 4G connection and a GPS receiver, so it sends its position to the app from wherever it is, not just within range of your phone. You see a live dot and the route, and you can set virtual fences that alert you when they leave. Accuracy depends on signal and surroundings: open ground is close to exact, dense city streets and indoors widen the circle. A Bluetooth item tag only reports when a stranger's phone from the same network happens to pass, which on a beach at dawn is nobody.
From about 4 kg, so most adult cats and every dog bigger than a Chihuahua. Cats wear it only on a breakaway collar. Below 4 kg, or for a cat that will not tolerate a collar device, the battery-free Smart ID Tag is the right product.
Up to 30 days, in practice two to four weeks depending on how often you ask for a live position, how much the LED runs and how strong the signal is. It charges by USB-C with the cable in the box and the app warns you before it runs flat. If it does go flat, the Smart ID Tag on the same collar is still readable, which is why I run both.
IP67: one metre of water for 30 minutes, so swimming, rain, rivers and the beach are fine. Rinse it in fresh water after salt water and dry the charging port before you plug it in. It is not for diving, and it is not a chew toy: it lives on the collar of the dog wearing it, not in the mouth of the dog next door.
Clicker, beep, whistle, a recording of your voice, and vibration, all triggered from the app, with a training program built in. There is no static or shock function; training runs on sound and vibration only. Use the sounds to mark the behaviour you want and pay it with food; use vibration as an attention cue for a dog that has learned what it means, not as a correction.
It replaces the tag on the days it is charged: the screen shows the same QR and NFC Lost Pet ID. It does not replace the microchip, which is the legal identifier and works with no battery at the vet or the pound. The setup I recommend is tracker plus tag on the same collar, chip registered to a phone number that works, and that is what the Track & Scan Bundle is.
The tracker, two silicone back straps for the collar, a one metre USB-C cable and a QR code inside the lid that takes you through setup in the Ask A Vet app. Faulty or damaged on arrival: email hello@woopf.com as soon as you notice, with a photo and your order number. For anything after that, the same address reaches the Ask A Vet hardware support team.
