How it works

This is not a mattress protector that lies on top and slides off in the night.

Four dogs need it. For the first three, wipe it and move on; for the digger, it is the difference between a cover that lasts and one that does not.

A waterproof fabric is a coated fabric, and a coated fabric does not breathe the way bouclé does, so it is warmer to lie on.
Size guide
SNÜZ Small, bouclé or suedeBed outer size 73 x 58 x 15 cm · Cover weight 450 g
SNÜZ Medium, bouclé or suedeBed outer size 94 x 74 x 15 cm · Cover weight 650 g
SNÜZ Large, bouclé or suedeBed outer size 115 x 90 x 15 cm · Cover weight 850 g
Buy the size of the SNÜZ bed it goes on. Small covers the Small (73 x 58 x 15 cm), Medium the Medium (94 x 74 x 15 cm), Large the Large (115 x 90 x 15 cm). The bouclé and the suede SNÜZ share those sizes.
It is a full enclosure, so the whole bed goes inside and the zip closes round the base. Unzip it fully, put the bed in, then zip it closed underneath.
The corduroy SNÜZ, the NÄP and the SNÖR are different shapes. Nothing published confirms the cover on them, so do not buy it for those beds until it does; email hello@woopf.com and ask.

How to

Unzip it fully. Put the bed in, smooth the top, then close the zip underneath. Two minutes the first time, one after that.

Most accidents come off with a damp cloth and a little pet-safe cleaner in under a minute. Wipe, dry, done. The machine is for the soakings.

Unzip, take the bed out, machine wash the cover cold on a gentle cycle, and hang it to dry. Never tumble dry it and never iron it; heat is what ends a waterproof coating.

Once a week, run a finger along the zip line for hair and grit, especially on a digger. A zip that jams is a zip that gets forced.

A puppy that is dry for a month, a drain that is out, a bladder that is back under control: the bouclé is the nicer thing to sleep on, so go back to it and keep the cover for the next time.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, BVSc
A wet bed is a symptom before it is a laundry problem. A house-trained adult dog that starts wetting the bed needs a vet, not a cover: urinary infections, bladder stones, diabetes, kidney disease, Cushing's disease and the hormone-responsive incontinence of older desexed females all present this way, and most of them are treatable. A puppy still having regular accidents past six months needs the same visit. Wet bedding left under a dog causes urine scald and skin infection within a day or two, so a wet cover is wiped or changed the same day, every time. After surgery, follow your surgeon's instructions on keeping the incision and any drain dry and covered; a waterproof bed does not replace a clean, dry dressing. A dog that digs its bed to shreds is usually bored, anxious or too hot, and the fix is in the day, not the bed. Nothing about a waterproof cover is a treatment for anything.

Why I designed it
Think about who sleeps on a SNÜZ. The old dog whose bladder is going the way of her hips. The dog home from surgery with a drain that oozes for three days. The puppy who is not there yet. I send dogs like that home every night, and the bed they go home to is usually ruined inside a month, because you cannot wash foam.

FAQ
The SNÜZ bed, in bouclé (the SNÜZ Vet Orthopedic Bed) or suede (the SNÜZ Orthopedic Suede Bed): they share one shape and three sizes, and the cover comes in the same three. Buy the size of the bed you own. The SNÜZ Orthopedic Corduroy Bed is a different shape, a four-sided frame, and the NÄP and the SNÖR are different again; nothing published confirms the cover on any of them, so do not buy it for those until it does.
The listing says 100% waterproof, and a coated woven fabric is. The places any waterproof cover lets go first are the seams and the zip line, which is why the zip runs underneath and why the advice is to wipe an accident promptly rather than leave it to pool. Wipe it, dry it, and the foam under it stays dry.
The weave is smooth and tight, so a digging claw slides instead of hooking the way it does in bouclé loops, and the zip is out of reach underneath. That is what the word means here, and it is a real difference for a nester. It does not mean chew-proof: no fabric survives a dog that chews through covers, and a dog doing that to its bed is bored, anxious or in pain, which is a vet and a trainer, not a thicker cover.
Warmer than bouclé, yes: a coating that keeps water out keeps air in. Most dogs do not notice in winter. In summer, or for a thick-coated dog, put a cotton blanket or a towel on top; it is cooler, it catches the hair, and it washes more easily than anything else on the bed.
No, and it is the reason to see your vet before you buy anything. A house-trained dog that starts wetting the bed may have a urinary infection, bladder stones, diabetes, kidney disease or, in older desexed females, a hormone-responsive incontinence that responds well to medication. A puppy still having regular accidents past six months needs the same visit. Buy the cover for the weeks it takes to sort out; do not let the cover become the reason you never do.
Wipe first: a damp cloth and a little pet-safe cleaner handles most accidents in under a minute. For a soaking, unzip, take the bed out and machine wash the cover cold on a gentle cycle, then hang it to dry. No tumble dryer, no iron, no bleach; heat and bleach are what end a waterproof coating. Check the zip line for hair once a week so it never has to be forced.
Damaged or faulty on arrival: email hello@woopf.com as soon as you notice with a photo and your order number and it is covered. Wrong size: returns are considered within 14 days on unused items in their original packaging, so match it to the bed size you own before you order.
