How it works

Most pets sleep half-curled: back against something, chin on an edge, legs out along a straight side. A donut gives them the edge and no straight side; a flat mat gives them the length and nothing to lean on.

The fur is the Furry Curves fur: a long faux fur that lies in soft rounded bumps, the curves in the name, inside the nest and over the rim, so the pet is on fur whichever way it lies. It is the same fur as the Furry Curves Round Bed and the Furry Curves Sleeping Mat, in the shape neither of them has.

Four things to know before you buy.
Size guide
Cats, and dogs to 6 kgto 13 lb · 55 x 45 x 15 cm / 22 x 18 x 6 in
Dogs 6 to 15 kg13 to 33 lb · 75 x 60 x 17 cm / 30 x 24 x 7 in
Dogs 15 to 30 kg, curled33 to 66 lb · 95 x 79 x 19 cm / 37 x 31 x 7 in
Measure the pet curled up, nose to the base of the tail: under about 35 cm fits the Small, under about 50 cm the Medium, under about 65 cm the Large, each with room to shift. Stretched along the long side, the Medium takes a dog to about 55 cm and the Large to about 75 cm lying flat; a bigger sprawler wants the Furry Curves Sleeping Mat, and a dog that sleeps in a tight ball is happier in the Furry Curves Round Bed.
Weight bands, as a guide: Small for cats and dogs to about 6 kg, Medium for 6 to 15 kg, Large for 15 to 30 kg curled or two small dogs side by side. These are a guide from the footprints, not a published limit; the rim is low, so a leg over the edge does no harm.
This is the bed for a carpeted or rugged room, the bedroom floor, the end of a bed or the couch. No non-slip base is listed, so on tiles or floorboards put it in a corner or against a wall. A dog with stiff hips that has to step over a rim, or any dog after surgery, wants a low front and published memory foam: the Furry Curves Open Front Rectangle Bed for the step-in, the SNÜZ Vet Orthopedic Bed or the SNÖR Vet Orthopedic Bed for the foam.

How to

Curled up, nose to tail base: under 35 cm the Small, under 50 cm the Medium, under 65 cm the Large. A dog that sleeps flat out on its side wants the flat mat, not a bigger nest.

Beside the couch, by your side of the bed, in the cat's sunny corner. Nothing on this bed is listed to grip a hard floor, so on tiles put it in a corner or against a wall.

Circling, kneading the cushion and pushing the nose into the rim is the bed being used properly. Plump the rim on wash day, not every morning.

A slicker brush or a rubber glove lifts the hair and stands the pile back up. Cover off, cold wash, gentle cycle, air dry, brush again; weekly for a pet with itchy skin, the same day after an accident.

If the dog is stiff after a sleep, slow to rise or reluctant to step over the rim, or the cat has stopped using a bed it liked, the bed is not the fix: see your vet, and for a dog move to a low front and published memory foam (the open-front bed for the step, the SNÜZ or the SNÖR for the foam).
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, BVSc
A bed is comfort, not treatment. A fur nest keeps a healthy pet warm and off a hard floor; what is under the fur has not been published, so buy this bed for the fur, the rim and the size, not for a joint. A dog that is stiff after rest, slow to rise, reluctant to jump or use stairs, licking at one joint or limping for more than a day or two needs a veterinary examination and, usually, published memory foam under it and a bed it does not have to step over. A cat that stops using a bed it liked, or starts sleeping somewhere odd, is telling you something: pain, illness and stress all change where a cat sleeps, and that is a vet visit, not a new bed. A pet that panics when left, in a crate or in a car has a fear that a familiar bed can make a little easier and cannot fix; that is training, sometimes medication, and a conversation with your vet. Heat: fur on every surface is warm in a hot room or a car for a flat-faced dog, an overweight dog or an old one; put it in a cool room in summer, and never leave any pet in a parked car, bed or no bed. Chewers: a dog that opens a seam and eats the fill can block a gut, so check the rim and the seams weekly and supervise a young dog with any soft bed. Accidents: get the cover off and washed the same day; if urine has reached the cushion, air it fully before the cover goes back on. The floor: with no grip base listed, a bed that skates when an old dog steps into it is a bed that trips an old dog; keep it on carpet or against a wall. A rim is not a barrier: a kitten or a puppy climbs out of it, and it is not a pen.

Why I designed it
Watch how a pet actually sleeps and most of them are neither a ball nor a plank. They half-curl: back against something, chin on an edge, legs out along a straight side. A donut gives them the edge and takes away the straight side; a flat mat gives them the length and nothing to lean on.

FAQ
Measure the pet curled up, nose to the base of the tail, and buy the nest that is longer than that with room to shift: under about 35 cm the Small, under 50 cm the Medium, under 65 cm the Large. As a guide that is cats and dogs to about 6 kg, 6 to 15 kg, and 15 to 30 kg curled or two small dogs side by side. A dog that stretches along the long side needs the Medium at up to 55 cm lying flat and the Large at up to 75; a bigger sprawler wants the Furry Curves Sleeping Mat, which is this fur as a flat mat in four sizes to 118 cm. Between sizes, go up.
Nothing published gives a thickness, a density or a layer. Buy it as a soft fur nest for a healthy pet, and buy a dog with stiff hips, a dog after surgery or an old dog a bed whose memory foam is published: the SNÜZ Vet Orthopedic Bed or the SNÖR Vet Orthopedic Bed.
No and no, whatever the web address says. In every photograph the rim runs all the way round at one height, and it is a low soft rim, not a built-up bolster. That is the design: a cat or a small dog steps in without climbing and still has fur at its back and an edge for its chin. A dog that wants a real bolster and a lowered front to step through, an old dog, a Dachshund, a Corgi, wants the Furry Curves Open Front Rectangle Bed, which is the same fur as a proper sofa in one size, or the Furry Corduroy Open Front Rectangle Bed, which has three walls, a rubber-dot base and a lower price.
Same fur, three shapes, and the pet decides. A pet that sleeps in a tight ball with its chin on a ring wants the Furry Curves Round Bed, the donut. A dog that sleeps flat out on its side, legs straight, wants the Furry Curves Sleeping Mat, the flat one. A pet that half-curls, back against something and legs out along a straight side, wants this one, and that is most cats and most small dogs. If you have never watched, watch tonight.
The Small is, and it is one of the better ones in the range for a cat: a low rim a cat can see over, fur to knead, a rectangle that fits a windowsill ledge or the corner of a couch, and a cushion that holds the cat's own warmth. Put it where the cat already sleeps rather than where you would like it to, leave it a week, and do not wash the new-bed smell out of it before the cat has claimed it. A cat that will not use a bed is usually a placement problem, not a bed problem.
In one specific way: a familiar fur nest that smells of home makes a strange room, a holiday rental or a night at a friend's easier, and that is real. It is not a treatment. A dog that panics when left, or in a crate or a car, panting, drooling, pacing, scratching to get out, has a fear that needs training, sometimes medication, and a vet; a softer bed will not fix it.
On floorboards or tiles it will move when the dog circles, because no grip fabric is listed on the base; on carpet or a rug it stays put, and on a hard floor a corner or a wall behind it does most of the job. For a crate, check the width before the length: the Small is 45 cm wide and fits a 24 inch tray, the Medium is 60 cm wide and needs a 42 inch, and the Large at 79 cm is wider than most trays. A rim bed also spends crate floor on its rim, and a bed without a grip base bunches on a plastic tray, so for a crate the Furry Corduroy Open Front Rectangle Bed with its rubber dots is the better buy. Measure the tray either way.
The cover is removable and machine washable: cold, gentle cycle, no softener, air dry out of the sun, then brush the fur back up. No tumble dryer and no iron: heat mats faux fur for good. Yes, a long fur holds hair: a slicker brush or a rubber glove once a week lifts it; the Cream, which is a light latte, hides tan hair and the White shows everything.
Damaged on arrival or faulty: email hello@woopf.com with a photo and your order number as soon as you notice, and it is covered. Wrong size and it is unused in its packaging: email within 14 days and we will consider a return. A bed a dog has slept on cannot come back for hygiene reasons, so measure the curl before you order rather than after.
