Your dog's name in silver reflective print on soft black neoprene, wrapped round the collar, the harness strap or the lead handle. No dangling tag, no jingle, nothing to snag: a name a stranger reads from a metre away, and headlights read at night. Type the name, pick the size for the strap, wrap and press. Not an ID tag, and it does not pretend to be: it sits beside the Smart ID Tag, not instead of it.

How it works

A hanging tag does its job once somebody has the dog in hand and turns the disc over.

The lettering is retroreflective ink: it sends light back towards the source that hit it, the way a road sign lights up in your headlights.

The badge is soft neoprene with stitched hook-and-loop ends. Open it, wrap it round the strap with the name facing out, press the ends together, and it forms a tube round the strap.

Pick the size for the strap, then check the name fits: Small takes up to six characters, Medium seven, Large eight, printed exactly as typed. BRIDIE is six; a longer name needs the Medium or the Large even on a narrow strap.
Measure round the strap (its width plus its thickness, doubled) and allow 2 cm for the hook-and-loop ends to overlap. Small suits narrow collars and slim straps, Medium most collars and harness straps, Large lead handles, padded straps and bag handles. Between sizes, go up: a badge that overlaps well is a badge that stays on.
The sizes are the badge open and flat. Which of the two figures wraps round the strap is being confirmed on a badge; until then, the strap examples above are the guide.

How to

Round the strap, width plus thickness doubled, plus 2 cm of overlap. Small for narrow collars, Medium for most collars and harness straps, Large for lead handles and padded straps. Between sizes, go up.

Up to six, seven or eight characters by size, printed exactly as entered. Check the spelling and the capitals before you add it to the cart; a badge printed with what you typed is not a fault.

Open the ends, wrap the badge round the strap with the name facing out, press the ends together firmly. Tug it. If the ends overlap by less than 2 cm, it is the wrong size.

On the collar, on the outside of the neck. On the harness, the chest strap or the side strap facing out. On the lead, the handle. It moves between them in seconds.

Wipe after wet walks and let it air dry; press the ends before every walk. The microchip, the council tag and the Smart ID Tag stay on the dog: the badge is the name, not the ID.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, BVSc
A name badge is not identification. The microchip and your council registration tag are the legal ID, and the Smart ID Tag is what a finder scans for your phone number and your dog's medical notes; a name helps a finder calm the dog and helps the nurse at the clinic, and that is its job. Reflective print is seen from where the light comes from, so it works for the driver whose headlights are on your dog; to see your dog yourself in the dark, use a light or the Glow range. Check the fastening before every walk, and take the badge off a collar that a puppy or a second dog chews: neoprene and hook-and-loop are not for eating. A badge on the harness stays with the dog; a badge on a collar the dog can slip does not.

Why I designed it
The first thing anyone says to a dog is its name, and most dogs wear it where nobody can see it: engraved on a tag the size of a coin, swinging under the chin, read only once somebody already has the dog by the collar. I wanted the name on the strap itself, big enough to read across a waiting room.

FAQ
Small takes up to six characters, Medium seven, Large eight, and the field on this page stops you at the limit for the size you have picked. The badge prints exactly what you type, capitals, spacing and all, so read it back before you add it to the cart. The lettering scales to the badge: a four-letter name prints larger than an eight-letter one. One name per badge.
Two questions: how long is the name, and how wide is the strap. The name sets the floor (six, seven or eight characters). For the strap, measure round it, width plus thickness doubled, and allow 2 cm for the hook-and-loop ends to overlap. Small suits narrow collars and slim straps, Medium most collars and harness straps, Large lead handles, padded straps and bag handles. Between sizes, go up: a badge that overlaps well is a badge that stays on.
Reflective. The silver print sends light back to its source, so it reads for a driver whose headlights are on your dog or for someone holding a torch. It does not glow on its own and it will not show you where your dog is in a dark yard. For that, the Glow colours of the Sealskin Collar and a clip-on light do the job, and the reflective harness or collar under the badge is the bigger surface at night.
No, and it does not try to. A name is not identification: the microchip and your council registration tag are the legal requirement, and the Smart ID Tag is what a finder scans for your phone number, your backup contact and the medical notes. What the badge adds is the one word a stranger needs before they touch your dog, readable from a metre away, and readable at night. Wear both.
The hook-and-loop ends overlap and press closed round the strap; with 2 cm of overlap and a firm press it stays put through a wet walk, and it comes off and goes on the next strap in seconds. Collar for the walk, harness chest strap for the park, lead handle when the dog wears neither. Press the ends before every walk, and if a puppy or a second dog chews at it, take it off that collar: neoprene is not for eating.
Neoprene is waterproof and dries fast, so rain, splashes and the wet walk home are fine. After a muddy one, wipe it with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Do not machine wash it or put it in a dryer: the print and the hook-and-loop last longer without either.
It is printed to order, so it does not leave the next business day as a stocked collar does. The print and dispatch time is being confirmed and will be printed here and in the shipping panel; delivery after dispatch is the usual 5 to 8 business days.
Damaged or faulty on arrival: email hello@woopf.com with a photo and your order number as soon as you notice, and it is covered. A name printed as it was typed is not a fault, which is why the page asks you to read it back; if you catch a typo after ordering, email straight away and we will do what we can before it prints.
