- 0:05 Good day. I'm Dr. Duncan Houston and this is my fake living room.
- 0:12 So, these are the Explorer extendable leash. Just means that I can change it and move it around, you know, as in terms of the length. You can make it really long for training or you can make it short if you're in like the city and need to, you know, don't want your dog to run on the road. Anyway, let's go through them all and open them all up.
- 0:28 All right. So, look, you've got a nice leash here. Let's go through it. On the end, you have a snap lock clip. This is a 360° spinning clip. It's actually for rock climbing. Anyway, you've got a dent at the back here. Put your index finger under that dent. Wrap it around onto the clip and you'll see that there's a twisty lock bit here. Put your thumb and your index finger on it. You twist that lock bit and you pull it back. That's how you do it with one hand. So, the other fingers hold the lead. Your index finger goes under that bump on this on the snap lock clip. And then you can easily unclip it and you just let it go and it'll lock back automatically. So it can't unlock when your dog is, you know, on the leash. That's the whole point of this clip.
- 1:05 Let's go through the rest. You have a very nice webbing here. It has reflective bits through the webbing. So if you're walking your dog or whatever at night and light, you know, like a car shines on it, they will see the whole lead will light up. Then you have this piece of silicone rubber. I don't know. I think it's silicone. And you've got, you know, with the logo on it. You can slide this along. Because this lead is adjustable, you will have kind of a loop system here. And this will help kind of keep the loop together or minimal so it doesn't catch on stuff or flap around.
- 1:35 For the handle, you have a nice soft neoprene inside. So, it's really nice to be able to hold on it. You have a buckle. So, if you need to clip this around, say if you're at the cafe, you can clip it around a chair. You can clip it around a pole. You can clip it around the table to make sure that your dog stays in the one spot while you go do something else. Very strong safe buckle.
- 1:55 The next thing is that you've got a D-ring here if you need to attach anything. So, you got to attach your poo bags or, you know, keys or whatever, you've got that here. And then you've got the logo on this side, which has a tiny little tag. That's actually to be able to hang off like a QR code or an ID code or something like that to make sure that this is for a certain dog. So, if your dog runs away and it's on the lead or if you want to keep this lead and keep information so you know that it's yours, anything like that, that's what this is for.
- 2:20 So the next thing is why is it an extendable or adjustable lead? This whole loop at the front, I can just pretty much double the length of this lead. Oh, so pretty much I am 2 m tall. If I have this just kind of dangling, it's just above my head. It's about 210 cm. So that's how long it can be.
- 2:43 Now, what else can you do with it? Well, I can put this around my waist. I've made it a little bit too big. So, I can adjust it again. And there you go. Your dog has about this much range to be able to walk around. So, if you go out, you know, you say you're going to the cafe, walk around the city, something like that. You can attach your dog on here. You can go for a bit of a jog. Your dog can run on the lead and you're all good. You can even adjust this bit if you want to. And you have a bit of a traffic handle down the bottom. And you got a bit of a handle. So, if you go to the traffic light or whatever, now you got a handle. There you go. That's the Explorer extendable or adjustable leash.
- 3:18 Now, let's see how what colors they come in. We have yellow. Ooh, so fancy. So bright, you know, nice bright yellow. Then we've got lime green. So bright green. I love fluoro. I love color. We have pink. That's right, pink. We have blue. A nice bright fluoro blue. Not boring blue. Bright blue. And orange. Wow. Look at that. Look at that red. Bright red. Not just any red. Like bright red. And purple. I love purple. This is more of a royal purple. You know, I also like lavender purple, but this is like a kind of nice dark bright, you know, thick, strong purple. All right. So, let me hold this up so you can see all the colors together. We've got all the colors on the website as well. We'll have them on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Etsy. This is what I want to do forever. I love products. Anyway, here you go. Look at all those colors. Look at that rainbow. That's right, mate. Your dog's going to look amazing. Amazing.

How it works
What makes it a premium dog leash: the parts, one by one

From 1.2 m to 2.1 m on one lead
A sliding adjuster sets any length between 4 ft and 7 ft.
- Short for training and trafficAt 1.2 m your dog is at your knee for heel work, crossings and busy footpaths.
- Long for the sniffLet it out to 2.1 m on open ground and the sniff becomes the reward for the walk before it.
- No stretch, on purposeThe webbing is plain nylon with no bungee section, so the lead stops in the same place each time and training stays consistent.
- One lead in the cupboardThe one leash replaces the short training lead, the walking lead and the long lead.
A soft neoprene handle that buckles round you, or round a pole
The padded handle adjusts, and its snap-lock buckle opens and closes with one hand.
- Hands-free walking and runningOpen the buckle, pass the loop round your waist, snap it shut, and your hands are free for a run, a pram or a coffee.
- A tether at the cafeThe same buckle goes round a pole or a chair leg while you sit, and snaps open again when you leave.
- Strong bucklesThe buckles are built to take a lunge: they snap shut and stay shut until you press them open.
- Soft on the handNeoprene padding, so neither waist mode nor a long walk rubs.

A spring-loaded twist snap-lock swivel clip, reflective sides and a ring
The hardware is the difference between this lead and a cheap one.
- Twist, snap, lockedThe clip is not a screw-on sleeve: twist it open with one hand, let go, and the spring locks it shut on its own.
- Light, strong, no twistRustproof aluminium, light enough for a small dog, strong enough for a big one, and it swivels a full 360 degrees so the lead never winds up.
- Reflective stitching on both sidesReflective stitching runs the length of the lead on either side, so headlights pick you both up on a night walk.
- A ring for the walkA ring on the lead carries the Explorer Dual Pocket Pouch, a bag roll, keys or a light.

Three fit rules
-
The leash suits every size of dog: the same webbing and clip for a toy breed and a large breed. Under about 5 kg, clip it to a harness rather than a collar, so the clip sits on the chest.
-
Use waist mode with a dog that already walks well and that you could stop by hand, and keep it off the kerbside beside traffic.
-
Tether to a harness, not a collar, and stay at the table: the buckle is for a coffee with your dog beside you, never for leaving a dog alone.

How to
How to use an adjustable dog leash: training, walking, running, the cafe

Clip it to a harness for a puller
For a dog that pulls, clip to the front ring of a harness for training and the back ring once loose-lead walking is reliable. Keep the collar for a dog that already walks calmly.

Set the length before you leave
Slide the adjuster to the length for the walk ahead, 1.2 m for the footpath, 2.1 m for the park. Twist the clip open with one hand, hook it on, and let the spring lock it.

Hold the handle, not the webbing
Hold the neoprene loop rather than the webbing, and never wrap any lead round your hand or fingers: a lunge with the webbing round a finger breaks bones.

Buckle it round your waist, or a pole
For a walk or a run, open the snap-lock buckle, pass the handle round your waist and snap it shut at your hips. At the cafe, pass it round the pole or chair leg instead and sit beside your dog.

Check it monthly
Look at the stitching at the handle and the clip, the clip spring and the buckles. Retire the leash once the webbing frays or a buckle stops snapping shut.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A leash does not stop a dog pulling: a front-clip harness redirects the pull, and training with rewards for a loose lead removes it. Never let a dog that pulls hard walk on a collar alone: repeated pressure on the throat damages the windpipe, and in small and flat-faced breeds it can worsen a collapsing trachea. Tether to a harness and stay beside the dog; a tethered dog that panics on a collar can choke. Puppies should not run on lead for distance until the growth plates close, at about 12 months in small breeds and up to 18 months in large ones. If your dog starts coughing after walks, book a vet visit that week.

Why I designed it
One lead that does the training walk, the cafe and the run, and stops in the same place every time.
I am an emergency and critical care vet who has worked in Sydney and Hong Kong, and I designed this lead around four decisions.
- No stretchA bungee or a retractable gives a dog more lead when it pulls, which teaches the opposite of a loose lead. Plain webbing gives the same answer every time.
- 1.2 m to 2.1 mShort for the training walk and the kerb, long at the park as the reward, and every length in between, so one lead replaces three.
- A clip you can trust with one handA gate that springs open on a lunge leaves a dog loose beside the road. This clip twists open, and the spring locks it the moment you let go.
- A handle that bucklesRound my waist on a run, round a pole at the cafe. Bridie and Kiko tested every version.

This is a great leash! It feels like a strong material, the color is bright, and I love the strong hook.
June 2026 The adjustable length is super convenient The bright orange color is a huge plus too. It’s very visible, which makes me feel safer during early morning or evening walks.

How long is the Explorer Adjustable Leash?
The slider sets any length from 1.2 m to 2.1 m, about 4 ft to 7 ft. At 1.2 m the dog is at your knee for training and crossings; at 2.1 m it has room to sniff on open ground.
What makes this a premium dog leash?
The parts: a soft neoprene handle with snap-lock buckles, a spring-loaded twist snap-lock swivel clip in rustproof aluminium that opens with one hand and locks itself, weather-resistant nylon webbing with reflective stitching on both sides, and a sliding adjuster that covers 1.2 m to 2.1 m. Each one is a fact you can check in your hand, which is what the price pays for.
Is an adjustable leash good for a dog that pulls?
It suits the training walk because it has no stretch, so your dog meets the same boundary every time. On its own, no leash stops pulling. Clip it to the front ring of the Explorer Harness, reward the loose lead, and move to the back ring once the pulling stops.
Can I run with my dog on it, hands-free?
Yes, with both hands free. Open the snap-lock buckle in the handle, pass it round your waist and snap it shut at your hips. The lead has no stretch, so a dog that hits the end of it at speed pulls you rather than a bungee; for that dog, the Explorer Bungee Leash softens the jolt. Two vet rules: no distance running for a puppy until the growth plates close, and no running in the heat of the day.
Can I tie my dog up at a cafe with it?
Yes, that is what the buckle in the handle is for: pass it round a pole or a chair leg and snap it shut. Tether to a harness rather than a collar, keep the lead short, and stay at the table; it is for a coffee with your dog beside you, never for leaving a dog alone.
How does the clip work, and is it strong?
A spring, not a screw thread, works the clip: it is a twist snap-lock swivel in rustproof aluminium. Twist the gate open with one hand, hook it on and let go; the spring snaps it shut and locks it. It swivels a full 360 degrees so the lead never winds up, and it is light enough for a small dog without giving anything away on a big one.
Will it suit a small dog or a big dog?
Every size of dog, with one note for the smallest. The webbing is 2.5 cm wide and the whole lead weighs about 140 g, so a toy breed is not dragging hardware, and the clip and buckles are built for a large dog. Under about 5 kg, clip it to a harness rather than a collar so the clip sits on the chest.
Is it reflective enough for night walks?
Reflective stitching runs along both sides of the lead, so it shows from either direction in headlights. Pair it with the Explorer Collar, which has 3M reflective stitching, and the dog is lit at both ends.
How do I clean it?
Rinse or wipe the webbing after mud or salt water and hang it to dry. Rinse the clip in fresh water after the beach, because sand in the gate is the one thing that stops any clip closing cleanly.
What if it arrives damaged or I chose the wrong colour?
Email hello@woopf.com as soon as you notice, with a photo and your order number. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are covered and we pay the return postage. Wrong colour and unused in its packaging: email within 14 days and we will look at a swap.
