Sealskin 项圈
The collar for the dog that gets wet every day. Coated webbing with no fabric core, so water, mud and smell have nowhere to soak in: swim, roll, rinse, wipe, done. A quick-release buckle, a rustproof metal D-ring for the lead and a small ring of its own for the tag, three sizes by neck girth, eight colours and a Glow that charges in daylight. And a collar that dries in a wipe is a neck that does not sit wet for hours.

- 0:05 Good day. I'm Dr. Duncan Houston and this is my fake living room.
- 0:12 So, here we've got the waterproof Sealskin collar. It is like a standard dog collar, but it comes in a bunch of colors and it's really nice material.
- 0:20 I've got my own design for like a topographic map pattern that goes onto the collars. So, this is on all the Sealskin products; it'll all match. If you get a leash or you get a harness, it will match the collars on these.
- 0:33 You do have a brushed gunmetal lightweight alloy D-ring. And then you've also got a little plastic D-ring to be able to hang your ID tags on. That one's stitched with my logo.
- 0:42 Don't put your ID tags on the main D-ring because the ID tag will get broken there and will pop off. Always put it on a separate little D-ring. So, that's why I have these separate D-rings.
- 0:52 They come with a very nice buckle. Everything is super strong, I test it all.
- 0:56 I work with manufacturers to make sure that the stitching is super nice. We don't have any edges and bits that are sharp or hanging off. You will get a really nice, premium quality product with everything that I have.
- 1:06 And they come in a full range of rainbow. So, you've got red, purple, green, pink, yellow, blue. Now, we've got orange and gray, but then we've also got this white one here.
- 1:18 So, what I could do with the waterproof range and this one, this is actually glow-in-the-dark. During the day, it looks like it's a really nice white waterproof fabric. This is all waterproof, and it will glow.
- 1:29 You can put it under the light or, even during the day, if you leave it out on the windowsill and then you use it at night, it will still have some charge that it will glow. So, it's no battery; it just absorbs sunlight.
- 1:40 All of this waterproof material is actually really easy to clean.
- 1:44 I prefer harnesses to collars. My dogs don't really wear collars because I worry. I've seen a couple of times where dogs have had fights or they've been playing and one dog gets caught under there, and it's caused damage to mouths, necks, and other things.
- 1:57 So, I'm a little bit averse to using collars. If that's what you like, then we've got that option, but I like harnesses, that's my preferred thing.
- 2:06 Anyway, that's the waterproof Sealskin collar. Lots of colors, lots of options. Just got to make everybody happy.

How it works
Why a collar with no fabric in it is the one for a dog that gets wet

No fabric core, so nothing soaks in and nothing smells
A nylon collar is a sponge with a buckle: sea water, dam water, mud and whatever your dog rolled in go into the weave and come out over the next three days as a smell you cannot wash away.
- PVC-coated, no fabric coreThe Sealskin is PVC-coated webbing with no fabric core.
- Rinse or wipe cleanWater beads on it, mud slides off it, and a rinse under the tap or a wipe with a cloth is the whole cleaning routine.
- Unchanged by sun, cold or rainIt does not stiffen in the sun, crack in the cold or go soggy in the rain, and it is lighter and more hygienic than leather while feeling much the same in the hand.

Dry in a minute, because a wet neck is where hot spots start
The summer presentation I could set my watch by is the golden retriever or the Labrador with a hot spot under the collar.
- How a hot spot startsA patch of hot, raw, weeping skin the size of a hand that appeared overnight. It starts with moisture held against the skin, a warm day and a dog that scratched once.
- Dry in a wipe, not hoursA collar that stays wet for hours after a swim is the start of that chain, and a collar that dries in a wipe is not.
- Not a treatment or a guaranteeIt is not a treatment and it is not a guarantee, but it removes the one part of the problem you can buy your way out of.
- Two fingers, then dry the neckFit it to two fingers flat so the webbing does not rub, and take it off to dry the neck after a long swim anyway.

Off in a second, found in an hour, seen in the dark
The quick-release side buckle clips on in a second and opens in a second with one hand, which is what you want if the collar catches on a branch underwater or a crate bar at home.
- A rustproof metal D-ringThe D-ring is rustproof metal, because salt water eats cheap hardware in a season, and it takes the lead on a calm walker. The Smart ID Tag goes on the small tag ring beside it on every walk: on the D-ring a tag gets broken and pops off.
- The collar that carries the IDThe beach, the river and the bush are where dogs get separated from their people, so the collar that goes there is the one that must carry the ID.
- Eight colours that matchEight colours match the Sealskin Leash and Harness.
- A glow, not a reflectorThe Glow colour is cream by day, charges under daylight or a lamp, and glows green in the dark. It is a glow, not a reflector, so the dark walk home still wants a light.

Three sizing rules
-
Measure the neck with a soft tape where the collar naturally sits, low on the neck, snug but not tight. Small 27 to 37 cm, Medium 32 to 47 cm, Large 41 to 64 cm. The dog-weight bands are a guide; the tape decides.
-
Between two sizes, go up. Coated webbing does not stretch or soften the way nylon does, so a collar at the very end of its adjustment has no give left for a winter coat or a growing puppy.
-
Fit check: two fingers flat under the collar, no more. Coated webbing on a collar fitted too tight rubs where nylon would flex, so check it after the first few wet walks and again when the coat changes. A dog whose head is narrower than its neck (greyhound, whippet, some collies) can back out of any flat collar and walks on the harness.

How to
How to fit and look after a waterproof collar

Measure, then buy
Soft tape around the neck where the collar sits, snug. Use the size table; between sizes, go up, because coated webbing has no give.

Fit to two fingers
Clip it on, slide the adjuster until two fingers slide flat under the webbing and no more. Re-check after the first wet week and when the coat changes.

Tag on its own ring, lead on a calm walker
The Smart ID Tag lives on the small tag ring for every beach and bush walk, never on the D-ring, where a tag gets broken and pops off. The lead clips to the D-ring on a calm walker; a dog that pulls walks on the Sealskin Harness.

Swim, rinse, wipe
After the sea or the dam, rinse the collar under the tap while it is on or off, wipe it, and dry the neck under it with a towel. It is dry in a minute; the dog takes longer.

Off in the crate and in the wrestle
Take the collar off for unsupervised crate time and when two dogs play rough. Coated webbing is strong: a jaw or a crate bar caught in it is a strangulation risk, and the quick-release buckle is for the moment you did not.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
A collar is for identification and, on a calm walker, the lead. A dog that pulls hard should walk on a harness: repeated pressure on the throat damages the windpipe, raises pressure inside the eyes, and in small and flat-faced breeds can worsen a collapsing trachea. Fit to two fingers flat; coated webbing does not stretch, so a tight fit rubs. Dry the neck under the collar after a long swim; a hot spot starts with wet skin, warmth and one scratch, and a dog that is already scratching at the neck needs a vet, not a new collar. Take the collar off for unsupervised crate time and during rough play between dogs; a jaw or a crate bar caught in a collar is a strangulation emergency, and the quick-release buckle is for the human who arrives in time. Never attach a tie-out or a long line to a collar.

Why I designed it
A wet collar is a wet neck for the rest of the day. That is the problem this collar solves.
Golden retrievers swim, and I live with two of them, so I know the smell of a nylon collar that went in the sea on Saturday and was still damp on Tuesday. The smell is the small problem. The bigger one comes through my consult room every summer: the hot spot under the collar, a patch of raw, weeping skin that started because warm, wet fabric sat against the neck for hours and the bacteria did what bacteria do.
- No fabric to hold the waterSo the Sealskin Collar has no fabric to hold the water. It is coated webbing right through: the sea, the dam, the mud and the roll in something dead cannot soak in, a rinse or a wipe takes them off, and the neck underneath is dry a minute later.
- The buckle is a quick-releaseThe buckle is a quick-release, because a collar that gets caught on a branch in the water or a crate bar at home needs to come off in one hand.
- The D-ring is rustproof metalThe D-ring is rustproof metal, because salt kills cheap hardware in a season, and it takes the lead. The Smart ID Tag has a small ring of its own, because a tag on the D-ring gets broken and pops off, and the tag matters most on exactly the beach and bush walks this collar is for, because that is where dogs go missing.
- Eight colours match the Sealskin LeashEight colours match the Sealskin Leash, and the Glow charges in daylight for the walk back in the dark.
- Tested every version, mostly wetBridie and Kiko tested every version, mostly wet.
- The same honest line as the Explorer CollarThe same honest line as the Explorer Collar: a collar carries the ID and the lead on a calm walker. A dog that pulls walks on the harness, and the Sealskin Harness is the one that goes in the water with this collar.

Absolutely love this collar! It’s comfortable around my dogs neck. Doesn’t get wet and smelly like his old one. I’m so happy I found this product, pity I didn’t know about it sooner.
October 2025 My dog always makes her collars gross, so this waterproof one is perfect for what we needed. It's such a pretty color.

Is it really waterproof, and does it stop the smell?
Yes to both, for the reason that matters: there is no fabric in it. Coated webbing does not absorb water, so there is nothing for sea water, dam water or mud to soak into and nothing for bacteria to live in. Rinse it or wipe it and it is dry and clean in a minute. What it cannot do is dry the dog: towel the neck after a long swim, because the skin under any collar is where a hot spot starts.
Sealskin Collar or Explorer Collar: which one?
Same three sizes, same price, same job. If your dog swims, wades, rolls or gets rained on most weeks, the Sealskin: it never smells and wipes clean. If your dog stays mostly dry and walks a lot in the dark, the Explorer Collar: breathable nylon and 3M reflective stitching. Plenty of homes own one of each and swap by the weather.
Which size should I buy?
Measure the neck with a soft tape where the collar sits, snug but not tight. Small is 27 to 37 cm (about 4 to 10 kg: cavaliers, dachshunds, cavoodles), Medium 32 to 47 cm (about 10 to 25 kg: kelpies, collies, staffies), Large 41 to 64 cm (25 kg and up: goldens, Labradors, shepherds). Between sizes, go up: coated webbing has no give, so a collar at the end of its adjustment has no room for a winter coat or a growing puppy. Fit it to two fingers flat.
Can my dog swim in it?
That is what it is for. The webbing and the D-ring shrug off salt and fresh water; rinse the buckle under the tap after the beach so sand does not sit in it. Two rules for any collar in the water: the quick-release buckle is there because a collar can catch on a submerged branch, and a dog that swims with a tag on should have a tag that copes with water, which the Smart ID Tag does. If your dog pulls toward the water, the lead goes on the Sealskin Harness and the collar carries the tag.
Is it real biothane?
It is PVC-coated webbing with no fabric core, which is the family of material sold as biothane. In use the difference is nil: it is the coating with no core that makes it waterproof and smell-proof, and that is what you are buying.
How does the Glow colour work, and is it reflective?
The Glow collar is cream by day. It charges under daylight or a lamp and glows green in the dark for a while afterwards, brightest in the first hour, so it helps you find a pale dog in a dark garden or on the walk home. It is a glow, not a reflector: it does not throw headlights back the way the Explorer Collar's 3M stitching does, so for road walks after dark add a clip-on light. The other eight colours have no reflective element.
Can my dog wear it all the time?
During the day, yes; it is light and it does not hold water. Take it off for unsupervised time in a crate and when two dogs play rough, because coated webbing is strong and a collar caught on a crate bar or in another dog's jaw is a strangulation emergency. After a long swim, take it off long enough to towel the neck dry.
What if it arrives damaged or the size is wrong?
Email hello@woopf.com as soon as you notice, with a photo and your order number. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are fully covered and we pay the return shipping when the error is ours. Wrong size and unworn in its packaging? Email within 14 days and we will look at a swap.
