Match the chew to the chewer, not to the dog's size. Chew strength matters more than weight. Pick a size too big to fit fully inside your dog's mouth, start on the firmer strength if your dog shreds soft toys in minutes, and replace any chew once pieces can come away.

Size a bed to the dog stretched out, not curled up. Measure nose to tail base with your dog lying flat and add about 15cm. A dog that sleeps curled will still use a larger bed, but a dog that wants to stretch cannot use a smaller one, and an orthopedic bed only supports joints if the whole dog fits on the foam.

Fit the harness to the chest, not the weight chart. Measure the widest point of the ribcage just behind the front legs, set every strap to two fingers flat, and if your dog backs out of gear, choose the Explorer Harness: four adjustment points, elasticated chest straps and a padded handle for the moments that matter.
