- 0:05 Good day. I'm Dr. Duncan Houston and this is my fake living room.
- 0:12 All right, let's go through the poo bags, the WOOPF™ poo bags. I have two different types: one, two. I have the compostable, 100% compostable poo bags made from cornstarch. They will break down in 90 days in moist dirt with worms and bugs and all that stuff.
- 0:32 Then I have the 50% recycled plastic bags. Why do I have two different bags? Why did I not just stick with the compostable ones? Look, it gives two different price ranges. The plastic ones are, you know, obviously cheaper. I'm using 50% recycled plastic because if I increase the amount of recycled plastic in there, the bags did become a bit more brittle; they weren't as stretchy. I'm still working on it, but I'm trying to make a bag that your fingers aren't going to go through and there's somewhat a way of it being environmentally friendly. I am working on making 100% recycled plastic, but at the moment, to make these still be a good bag that's not going to split on your hand when you pick up poo, 50% recycled ones, they're purple. I really like these; they're really good. But, you know, I do prefer the compostable ones, but they are more expensive.
- 1:17 So, let's go to the compostable ones. Both of these do have recycled cardboard cores in the center. I'm trying to limit as much plastic as we're using cause, obviously, poos are every day, poos are all the time, poos aren't going to stop. So, we're trying to make poos as environmentally friendly as possible. So, these bags, these compostable bags, are made of cornstarch. When you throw these out, they have to go into a moist environment. Look, they can go into landfill and stuff like that, it's fine, but the bags will take longer to break down. At the moment, if you bury them in, like, compost or something where there's worms and bugs and they can chew it apart, they will break down in 90 days.
- 1:52 These rolls are slightly thicker than these ones. The reason why is I made both of the bags bigger than your average bag because I've got Golden Retrievers that do big poos. So, I obviously needed a bag that was slightly bigger than just standard ones, and I've got big hands. Big hands means big poo on my hands, I don't want that. So, these can be thinner because they're a bit stretchier, they're made of plastic, they're less likely to split. But the compostable ones, I have made these bags thicker than your standard bag, which means the rolls are bigger. So you can look, there is a slight difference in the box size for these two.
- 2:26 The thicker bags, it means that it doesn't always fit in all the small kind of dog roll poo bag dispensers. It fits in my stuff because I made a pouch where you can have treats as well as poo bags, and there's enough space to have two rolls in there. So when you run out of one roll, you have a spare roll. That is what is really annoying, is when you have a poo bag dispenser that only holds one roll and then you run out of bags, there's no backup. Anyway, so these bags, you might have to remove one of these bags on there to make it fit into a smaller poo bag dispenser. But at the moment, these fit in my stuff.
- 2:58 They're just slightly bigger and thicker because I don't want them to split. I want to make sure that you have a bag that's really easy to pick up poo, it doesn't break apart. Like, you don't put your hand in there and then it falls apart in your hand. But look, you know, you want to use these within a few years. They do start to get a bit thinner and more brittle after a few years of sitting around, but look, you're probably going to use them because it's poo. They poo multiple times a day, so you're going to have to use multiple bags a day anyway.
- 3:24 So, that's the compostable and the 50% recycled poo bag range. I will have more options for poo bags in the future. Buy them in bulk, you may as well have them. So rather than using, like, a pooper scooper or whatever and then chucking it down the toilet or flushing it or whatever, I do wrap these up and then chuck them in the bin or bury them or whatever, like whatever's easiest where I am.
- 3:44 But I know that at least if they go into landfill, they're going to break down and be much better for the environment than, you know, your plastic ones. Obviously better than these, but I'm working on 100% recycled ones. These are 50% recycled, they're a different price range, and then we can work on getting these things better together. All right, that's the poo bag range from WOOPF™.

How it works
Why the honest everyday bag is half recycled

Half recycled, half new, and that is why it does not split
The film is 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, the kind that has already been a bottle or a bag once, and 50% new.
- A choice, not a compromiseFilm made only from recycled plastic varies from batch to batch and tears more easily, and the one thing a poo bag must never do is give way in the hand.
- Thick, stretchy and leak-proofThe recycled half cuts the new plastic in the pack by half, and the new half keeps the bag thick, stretchy and leak-proof after a big dog.
- 23 by 33 centimetresA Labrador's pickup ties off with room to spare and a small dog's does not need two.
- Tears at the lineThe perforation tears at the line rather than halfway down the next bag.

Where a used poo bag goes, and where it never does
The recycled part of these bags is what they are made from, not where they go.
- Never the recycling binA used poo bag goes in the general waste bin: never the recycling bin, where it contaminates the whole load.
- Never a compost that feeds food cropsWhatever the bag is made of, because dog waste can carry roundworm, hookworm and Giardia.
- If your council accepts pet waste in the green binIt will say so, and it will want a certified compostable bag, which is the other Poop & Go bag.
- For everyone else, this is the bagIt goes where the poo was going anyway, and it took half the new plastic to get there.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
And pick up every time. Roundworm eggs shed in a lawn stay infective for years, and children pick them up first. Two days of loose stool or any blood is a vet visit.

Cardboard cores, a cardboard box, no scent, four packs
The cores are cardboard and the box is cardboard, so the only plastic in the pack is the bag itself.
- No scent addedThere is no scent added, because perfume on a poo bag covers nothing and some dogs dislike the smell on the hand that feeds them.
- Standard rolls of 15The rolls are standard rolls of 15 on a cardboard core, so they drop into any dispenser, including the Explorer Dual Pocket Pouch, which holds two rolls with the treats and the keys.
- Four packs, 150 bags to 600The bigger the pack, the less each bag costs.
- The 600 packAbout eight months of walks for one dog or four for two, and the cheapest bag in the range.

Three pack rules
-
Count your pickups, not your dog. One dog at two or three a day uses 150 bags in about two months, 300 in four, 450 in six and 600 in eight. Two dogs halve those numbers.
-
Every step up is cheaper per bag. Buy the biggest pack you have a cupboard for; unlike the compostable bags, these do not degrade in storage.
-
One bag size, 23 x 33 cm, for every dog. A chihuahua does not need a smaller bag; a Great Dane needs this one, and sometimes two.

How to
How to pick up properly (and where the bag goes)

Load the roll core-first
Cardboard core in, tail out through the outlet. In the Explorer Dual Pocket Pouch the second roll waits in the other pocket.

Tear at the line
Pull to the perforation and tear across it, not down the bag. The line is where the bag is meant to give.

Glove, grab, invert, tie
Hand inside the bag, pick up, turn the bag inside out over the pickup and knot it at the top. A 23 x 33 bag leaves room for the knot.

Look before you bag
Colour, consistency, mucus, blood, worms, anything that was not food. Two days of loose stool, any blood, or straining with nothing produced is a vet visit.

General waste, never recycling
The tied bag goes in the general waste bin. Not the recycling bin, whatever the box says about recycled plastic, and not the compost that goes on food.
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, emergency veterinarian
What comes out tells you what is going on inside. Loose stool for more than two days, blood, mucus that keeps coming, or straining with nothing produced is a vet visit, not a wait-and-see, and worms you can see mean the whole household gets checked. Pick up every time: roundworm eggs shed in a lawn stay infective for years and children pick them up first. A used bag goes in the general waste bin, never the recycling bin and never a compost that feeds food crops, whatever the bag is made of. Keep bags away from children and puppies: a plastic bag over a puppy's face or in its stomach is an emergency.

Why I designed it
Most dog poo goes in the general waste bin. This is the bag for that bin.
I make a compostable bag, and it is the right bag when the poo can actually be composted: a pet-waste composter at home, or one of the few councils that take it in the green bin. For most homes, though, the tied bag goes in the general waste bin and then to landfill, whatever it is made of, and once that is the truth, the honest question is how much new plastic the bag took to make.
- These take half as muchThey are 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, the other half new, and the new half is deliberate: recycled film on its own is weaker and less consistent, and a poo bag that splits is a poo bag that has failed at its one job.
- Thick, unscented, on cardboard coresThese are thick, 23 by 33 centimetres, unscented, on cardboard cores in a cardboard box, and they are the cheapest bag I make in the 600 pack.
- Two things I will not pretendThey are plastic, and a used one goes in the general waste bin, never the recycling, whatever the word recycled on the box makes you think. And no bag makes dog poo safe for a vegetable patch.
- Pick up every timeRoundworm eggs shed in a lawn stay infective for years, and what comes out of your dog is the best free health check you will get all day.
- Two golden retrievers, every dayBridie and Kiko provide the test material. Daily.

We buy these in bulk now since the rolls last a while and never disappoint. Good thickness throughout, with no thin or weak spots in the batch we received.
June 2026 We have a bigger dog and these have never torn or failed us. The eco conscious angle was a nice bonus on top of solid everyday performance.

What does 50% recycled actually mean?
Half of the plastic in the film has already been something else, a bottle or a bag, collected after use and reprocessed: post-consumer recycled plastic. The other half is new. That split is deliberate: film made only from recycled plastic varies between batches and tears more easily, and a poo bag that gives way in the hand has failed at its one job. So you get half the new plastic of an ordinary bag and the same strength. It does not make the bag compostable, and it does not make a used bag recyclable.
Can I put a used bag in the recycling bin?
No. Never. The word recycled describes what the bag is made from, not where it goes. A used poo bag in a recycling bin contaminates the load and the whole bin can end up in landfill. Tie it off and put it in the general waste bin, at home or in a public bin. It also never goes into a compost that feeds food crops, because dog waste can carry roundworm, hookworm and Giardia. Two days of loose stool or any blood is a vet visit.
Recycled or compostable: which Poop & Go bag should I buy?
Ask where the tied bag ends up. If you have a pet-waste composter at home, or your council accepts pet waste in the green bin in a certified compostable bag, buy the Poop & Go 100% Compostable Bags: they are certified to break down in a compost and they are plastic-free. If the bag goes in the general waste bin, which is most homes, buy these: they took half the new plastic to make, and in the 600 pack they are the cheapest bag in the range. Both are 23 x 33 cm, unscented, on cardboard cores. The full comparison: Recycled vs biodegradable poo bags: a vet compares.
How thick and how big are they?
23 x 33 cm (9 x 13 in), one size for every dog, big enough that a large dog's pickup ties off with room to spare. The film thickness is being confirmed with the manufacturer and will be printed here when it is. They are thick and leak-proof, and the bags went through daily use behind two golden retrievers before the name went on the box, which is the test that matters. The new-plastic half of the film is what gives them their stretch.
Do they fit my dispenser?
Yes. Standard rolls of 15 on a cardboard core, so they fit every standard dispenser, including the Explorer Dual Pocket Pouch, which holds two rolls plus treats, keys and cards.
How long will a pack last?
One dog at two or three pickups a day: 150 bags is about two months, 300 about four, 450 about six, 600 about eight. Two dogs, halve it. Unlike the compostable bags, these keep in a cupboard for as long as you need, so the 600 is the sensible buy for anyone with the space: each bag costs over a third less than in the 150.
Are they scented, and can I use them for the cat's litter tray?
Unscented, on purpose: perfumed bags cover nothing and some dogs dislike the smell on the hand that feeds them. A bag tied off properly holds odour in on the walk, and the Explorer Dual Pocket Pouch carries the tied bag until the next bin. For the litter tray, yes: a 23 x 33 bag takes a scoop or a full tray change, and it goes in the general waste bin the same way.
What if the box arrives damaged or a roll is faulty?
Email hello@woopf.com as soon as you notice, with a photo and your order number. Telling us in the first week helps us claim against the carrier, but it is not a cut-off. Damaged or faulty rolls are replaced or refunded, and we cover any return shipping.
