- 0:00 G’day, I’m Dr. Duncan Houston, and this is my fake living room.
- 0:13 So all these beds around me, they’re the Furry Corduroy Rectangle Bed. It’s corduroy, obviously. It’s got the lines here. It’s really like a kind of fluffy velvet material.
- 0:23 The reason why I’ve got all these different stacks beside me is they’re all different sizes. So we’ve got small, medium, large and extra large.
- 0:33 Up to 10 kilos for the small, 10 to 20 kilos for the medium, 20 to 30 kilos for the large, and 30 to 40 kilos for the extra large. I can sleep on an extra large bed.
- 0:46 These come in brown, white, grey, and it’s called pale pink for the bottom one. Look, this is the brown one.
- 0:53 Furry corduroy material. It’s a very soft material. It feels the same as the Furry Curves range. So the Furry Curves range has the kind of bumpy, wavy material. It feels like exactly the same material, but just the design is corduroy, so having the lines in between.
- 1:07 All of these do have a very nice leather logo for my brand, WOOPF™.
- 1:12 All right, so they have a nice metal zipper. And then inside, this is not machine washable. I would say that you can hand wash this and then put it out in the sun, but it is not machine washable.
- 1:25 This is like that kind of porous outer fabric that just is holding in flame-retardant fluffy… I don’t know what it is. It’s not cotton, but it’s like synthetic kind of fluff in there.
- 1:34 You can put this in the washing machine. It’s a cold wash cycle at slow spin.
- 1:39 So look, as I’ve said, this is similar material to the others. It’s not our premium range, but it is our standard range. And there are multiple other companies out there, and this is actually their premium range bed.
- 1:52 Where I get my stuff manufactured, they actually manufacture for other big brands as well. All these beds are really nice.

How it works
Why 8 cm of foam, why the base grips, and how to size it for the dog and the crate

Eight centimetres of foam: a mattress, not a pad
Under the plush is 8 cm of support foam, which is the difference between a mat and a pad.
- Foam, not fibre over floorboardsA dog lying on it is lying on foam, not on a layer of fibre over floorboards.
- No bottoming out, keeps its shapeA big dog does not bottom out. The mat keeps its shape after months of a dog dropping onto the same spot.
- For dogs that sleep flat outIt is as thick as a WOOPF™ flat mat gets, 3 cm more than the shag mat, and the one to buy for a dog that sleeps flat out on its side with its legs straight.
- Support foam, not memory foamWhat it is not is memory foam: support foam holds a dog up, memory foam moulds to a sore joint, and the SNÜZ and the SNÖR have the memory foam.

A rubber-dot base, so the mat stays where the dog puts it
The base of this mat is a rubber-dot fabric, the grip on the back of a good bath mat.
- Stays put on tiles and floorboardsOn tiles and floorboards a plain mat skates when the dog circles and ends up against the wall with the dog half off it. This one stays where you put it.
- Steady footing for an old dogAn old dog stepping onto it steps onto something that does not move, which matters more the older the dog gets.
- Crate trays and back seatsThe base is also what makes it the right mat for a crate tray, where a sliding mat bunches into a corner and the dog stops using it, and for the back seat of a car.
- Grips hard floors, not rugsOne limit: rubber dots grip a hard floor, not a rug, so on carpet the mat still shifts a little.

Four sizes, measured by the dog lying flat and by the crate
A flat mat is sized two ways.
- First, the dog lying flatMeasure them lying stretched out on their side, nose to the base of the tail, and buy the mat that is longer than that with room to shift, so under about 65 cm the Small, under 80 the Medium, under 95 the Large, under 110 the Extra large.
- Second, the crate floorA foam mat does not fold to fit, so measure the inside of the floor. Crate floors vary between makers, so the tape measure beats the label.
- Which crate each size fitsThe Large (104 x 68) fits a 42 inch crate and the Extra large (118 x 72) a 48 inch. The Medium (90 x 59) is a close fit in a 36 inch and a centimetre or two wide for some trays.
- Between sizes, up or downBetween sizes, go up for the dog and down for the crate: a mat that hangs over the edge of a tray by a centimetre curls; one that is 5 cm short is fine.

Three sizing rules
-
Measure the dog lying stretched out on its side, nose to the base of the tail: under about 65 cm fits the Small, under about 80 cm the Medium, under about 95 cm the Large, under about 110 cm the Extra large, each with room to shift. A dog that curls fits anything, but a curler is usually happier in a ring.
-
Weight bands, as a guide: Small for cats and dogs to about 8 kg, Medium for 8 to 15 kg, Large for 15 to 25 kg, Extra large for 25 to 40 kg or two small dogs. These are a guide from the footprints, not a published limit; the mat has no rim, so a leg over the edge does no harm.
-
For a crate, measure the inside of the floor before you order: the mat needs its full footprint and does not fold. As a rough match the Large (104 x 68) fits a 42 inch crate and the Extra large (118 x 72) a 48 inch; the Medium (90 x 59) is a close fit in a 36 inch and a centimetre or two wide for some trays; floors vary between makers. A dog past ten with stiff hips, or any dog after surgery, wants memory foam under it: the SNÜZ Vet Orthopedic Bed or the SNÖR Vet Orthopedic Bed, not a mat.

Specifications
- Shape
- Flat rectangular mattress, no rim, no bolster; a piped edge; the dog lies on it from any side
- Sizes
- Small 74 x 52 x 8 cm, Medium 90 x 59 x 8 cm, Large 104 x 68 x 8 cm, Extra large 118 x 72 x 8 cm
- Foam
- Support foam, 8 cm. Not memory foam
- Top
- Wide-rib velvet-feel plush (the range's "corduroy"), the same on the sides
- Base
- Rubber-dot non-slip fabric: grips tile, timber, laminate and a crate tray; not a rug
- Cover
- Zip-off, machine washable
- Care
- Cover off, machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, no softener, air dry out of the sun, brush the rib back up. No tumble dryer. The foam stays out of the machine; air it. A brush or a damp hand lifts hair off the rib between washes
- Warmth
- A plush top keeps some of the dog's own heat in; less than a long pile, which is why it is the better summer mat of the two
- Colours
- Pale pink (a pale blush, nearly cream), White, Grey (a light grey) and Brown (a light tan, not a chocolate). Pale pink and White show dirt first; Grey and the tan hide the most
- Where it goes
- A crate floor (a 42 inch crate takes the Large, a 48 inch the Extra large; measure a 36 inch for the Medium), a car back seat or boot, a couch or the end of a bed as a protector, or the floor as a bed on its own
- The other mats and beds
- The Furry Curves Sleeping Mat is the same four sizes and 8 cm foam in a plain fur top without the rubber-dot base; the Fluffy Shag Calming Sleeping Mat is the 5 cm one-size shag mat; the Furry Corduroy Round Bed is this skin and base as a donut; the SNÜZ Vet Orthopedic Bed is the memory foam bed with bolsters all round

How to
How to size it, place it and keep it clean

Measure the dog flat, then the crate
Nose to tail base lying stretched out, and the inside of the crate floor if it is going in one. Between sizes, go up; a foam mat does not fold to fit.

Put it where the dog already sleeps
On the floor beside the couch, in the crate, on the back seat. The rubber dots mean it will still be there in the morning; a mat that slides is a mat the dog stops using.

Take it with you
Into the car, onto the floor at the friend's house or the holiday rental. A familiar mat in a strange place is the whole reason to own a flat one, and the base keeps it put on a strange floor too. In the car it is not a restraint: the dog still wears a car harness or travels in a crate.

Wash the cover fortnightly
Weekly for a dog with itchy skin, the same day after an accident or a muddy walk. Cover off, cold wash, gentle cycle, air dry, brush the rib back up; the foam stays out of the machine.

Watch how they get up
If the dog is stiff after a sleep, slow to rise or reluctant to step up onto the couch, 8 cm of support foam is not the fix: see your vet, and move to memory foam (the SNÜZ or the SNÖR).
Vet noteDr Duncan Houston, BVSc
A mat is comfort, not treatment. Eight centimetres of support foam lifts a healthy dog of any size off a hard floor and keeps its shape; it is not memory foam, and a dog that is stiff after rest, slow to rise, reluctant to jump or use stairs, licking at one joint or limping for more than a day or two needs a veterinary examination and, usually, memory foam under it. A dog that panics in the crate or the car (panting, drooling, pacing, vomiting, scratching to get out) has a fear that a familiar mat can make a little easier and cannot fix; that is training, sometimes medication, and a conversation with your vet, and the sooner the better. Heat: a plush top is warm in a hot car or a warm crate for a flat-faced dog, an overweight dog or an old dog; never leave any dog in a parked car, mat or no mat. Chewers: a dog that opens the zip or a seam and eats the foam can block a gut, so check the cover weekly and supervise a young dog with any foam mat in a crate. Accidents: get the cover off and washed the same day; if urine has reached the foam, air the foam fully before the cover goes back on. The base: rubber dots grip a hard floor, not a rug.

Why I designed it
Eight centimetres of foam, a base that grips, and a size for the crate.
A flat mat has one job: to put something proper between a dog that sleeps stretched out and a hard floor, and to stay where the dog put it. Most mats fail one or the other. They are a pad with a bit of fibre in it, or they are thick enough and skate across the tiles the moment the dog circles.
- A mattress, and a base that gripsThis one has 8 cm of support foam, which is a mattress and not a pad, and a rubber-dot base, which is the same grip as the corduroy donut and the reason a dog can step onto it on floorboards without it shooting out from under them.
- Sized to the crateFour sizes, and the two biggest are sized to the crates people actually own: the Large to a 42 inch crate, the Extra large to a 48.
- A top that brushes cleanThe top is a wide-rib plush that brushes clean, and the cover zips off for the machine.
- The honest linesSupport foam is not memory foam: it lifts a healthy dog off the floor and keeps its shape, and a dog past ten, or one recovering from surgery, belongs on the SNÜZ or the SNÖR, whose memory foam is made for a sore joint. I keep the word orthopedic for those.
- A familiar surface in a strange placeAnd calming is a familiar surface in a strange place, which is real in a crate or a car, not a treatment. Bridie and Kiko tested every version.

My dogs' love this new bed/ mat, it is very well made and snuggly. The material has a nice feel to it and it is non-slip on the bottom. It is the perfect size for them and also fits on my couch to make them even more comfortable when they're up there while protecting my furniture.
August 2026 Stylish and functional in equal measure. The ribbed corduroy texture gives the mat a premium look and the anti-slip base has been flawlessly stable on both tile and wood floors across six months of daily use.

Which size do I buy?
Measure the dog lying stretched out on its side, nose to the base of the tail, and buy the mat that is longer than that with room to shift: under about 65 cm the Small, under 80 cm the Medium, under 95 cm the Large, under 110 cm the Extra large. As a guide that is cats and dogs to about 8 kg, 8 to 15, 15 to 25, and 25 to 40 kg or two small dogs. Between sizes, go up. A dog that curls fits anything, but a curler is usually happier in the Furry Corduroy Round Bed, which is this skin and base as a donut.
Does it fit a crate, and which size?
Measure the inside of the crate floor first; a foam mat needs its full footprint and does not fold. As a rough match, the Large (104 x 68 cm) fits a 42 inch crate and the Extra large (118 x 72) a 48 inch; the Medium (90 x 59) is a close fit in a 36 inch and a centimetre or two wide for some trays. Crate floors vary between makers and a mat that is a centimetre too long curls up the side, so the tape measure beats the label, and if it is close, buy the mat that fits the crate rather than the dog. The rubber-dot base is what keeps it flat on a crate tray.
Is it orthopedic?
It has 8 cm of support foam, which makes it a mattress rather than a pad: enough to lift a healthy dog of any size off a hard floor and keep its shape. It is not memory foam, and we keep the word orthopedic for the beds that have it. A dog past ten with stiff hips, a dog recovering from surgery or a dog that gets up slowly belongs on the SNÜZ Vet Orthopedic Bed (2 cm of memory foam over 5 cm of support foam, with bolsters) or the SNÖR Vet Orthopedic Bed (the low one), which are made for a sore joint.
Does it slide on floorboards and tiles?
No: the base is a rubber-dot fabric, the grip on the back of a good bath mat, and the mat stays where you put it on tile, timber, laminate and a crate tray while the dog circles, digs and drops. That also means an old dog stepping onto it is stepping onto something that does not shoot out from under them. On a rug the dots have nothing to grip and the mat will still shift a little. A customer put it in one line: it is non-slip on the bottom.
Will it help my anxious dog?
In one specific way: a familiar mat that smells of home makes a crate, a car or a holiday rental less strange, and the base means it is the same mat in the same place every time, which is what a nervous dog wants. It is not a treatment. A dog that panics in the crate or the car, panting, drooling, pacing, scratching to get out, has a fear that needs training, sometimes medication, and a vet; a thicker mat will not fix it, and the listing should not have said it would.
How do I wash it, and does the rib hold hair?
The cover zips off and goes in the machine cold on a gentle cycle, no softener; air dry out of the sun and brush the rib back up. No tumble dryer and no iron. The foam stays out of the machine: air it, and if an accident has reached it, air it fully before the cover goes back on. The rib holds less hair than a long pile and brushes clean with a hand or a rubber glove between washes; Grey and the tan hide it best, White shows it first.
Corduroy or the Curves mat, and which colour?
They are the same four sizes and the same 8 cm of foam. This one has a wide-rib plush top and the rubber-dot base; the Furry Curves Sleeping Mat is a plain fur top with curved quilting and no non-slip base listed, in Cream or White. Hard floors, crates, cars or a dog that digs: this one. A carpeted room and a fur-lover: the Curves. Colours here: Pale pink is a pale blush close to cream, White is white, Grey is a light grey and Brown is a light tan rather than a chocolate; for a crate or a car boot, buy the Grey or the tan.
What if it is the wrong size for the crate, or it arrives damaged?
Damaged on arrival or faulty: email hello@woopf.com with a photo and your order number as soon as you notice, and it is covered. Wrong size and it is unused in its packaging: email within 14 days and we will look at a swap. A mat a dog has slept on cannot come back for hygiene reasons, so measure the crate floor and the dog before you order rather than after. A customer also uses it on the couch to protect the furniture, so a mat that turns out too big for the crate has a second job.
